Aluminum Sliding windows are the most common and popular type of windows. Sliding windows consists of a aluminium window frame with tracks on it. The aluminium frame is fixed on the wall within the window opening. There are shutters made of aluminum frame with a glass pane infill. The sliding aluminium shutters run in the tracks provided in the frame. Frame can be 2 Track, 3 Track or 4 Track. Number of tracks also determines number of shutters that can be accommodated in the window. Higher the number of shutters bigger is the clear opening obtained in case of a fully open window. For e.g. in a two track window there can be 2 shutters and hence in fully open condition one shutter overlaps the other and hence 50% opening is obtained. Similarly in a 3 track window with 3 shutters , 2 shutters overlap on the third creating 66% of opening and likewise 75% opening is obtained in the 4 track window.

Other important factor is the gauge &  width of the face of the shutter frame members.  Heavier shutters are not only stronger but also easier to move and slide. Similarly the broader the width of the member of shutter frame is , better is the look of the window.

Aluminum windows can be powder coated or anodized. Anodizing gives a metallic look to the windows and more durable and expensive than powder coating.
