Engineered Wood flooring looks like Solid wood flooring but instead of being made up of a single plank of wood, its made of a solid wood top layer glued to multiple layers of wood or ply sheets . There could be 3 to 8 layers of ply glued together in each plank of Engineered wood flooring. The multi ply construction solves the problem of shrinkage and expansion experienced in Hardwood / Solid wood floors due to exposure to temperature changes or moisture. Engineered wood is a premium product and on  a higher side of price spectrum.
